My Story
My yoga journey began over 20 years ago, during a difficult period when I had lost confidence and wasn’t feeling particularly happy or healthy. I discovered hot yoga at Naomi Clark’s studio and, honestly, I hated my first class!
But something made me go back. I challenged myself to practise for 30 days and soon noticed changes that went far beyond the physical. I had more energy, slept better, my mood improved and, for that hour on my mat, I could completely switch off.
I was hooked.
After moving to London, I practised with Michele Pernetta before leaving my career as a school teacher to follow my passion for yoga. In 2011, I travelled to Los Angeles for the intensive nine-week Bikram Yoga Teacher Training under Bikram Choudhury and Emmy Cleaves. I’ve since trained in Fierce Grace, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga.
That journey eventually led to Hot Yoga Patcham.
I started with Bikram, but as my own practice evolved, so did my teaching.
Today I love offering a variety of Bikram, Flow, Yin and more focused classes. For me, variety creates balance: sometimes we want to challenge ourselves, sometimes we need to move differently and sometimes we need to slow down.
I wanted to create a small, friendly and welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable, whatever their experience.
As life became busier, raising my young daughter, teaching yoga, working as a driving instructor, running businesses and juggling everyday life, I found myself constantly doing and rarely switching off.
My life had become very yang.
Hot yoga still helped me enormously, but I realised I needed balance. Yin, massage, Reiki, breathwork and hot and cold therapy helped me slow down, recover and make time for myself.
My very yang life
needed some Yin.
And that became the inspiration for Reset Rituals, a few hours to step away from everyday life, slow down, recharge and reconnect, without needing to disappear for a week-long retreat.
Because we shouldn’t have to wait until we’re running on empty before we make time to look after ourselves.
Whether you come to move and challenge yourself or to slow down and reset, my aim is simple:
To create a welcoming space where you can move, breathe, reconnect and leave feeling better than when you arrived.
